Besiktas buyout superstar Wout Weghorst from Manchester United
Besiktas have secured the signing of Dutch forward Wout Weghorst from Manchester United in a deal worth £18million.
Dream move for Weghorst
Weghorst, who has been with Manchester United since the start of the 2019-2020 season, moves after an impressive debut campaign in the Premier League. He scored nine goals and made three assists during his 32 appearances in all competitions. His presence will offer Besiktas a great attacking threat, having already signed Riechedly Bazoer earlier in the window.
What to expect from Weghorst?
The stopper delighted in his move to Turkey, targeting success with his new club. He said:
“I am looking forward to playing in Turkey and winning as many trophies as possible.”
Besiktas fans will expect prolific returns from Weghorst, as he has taken the league by storm since turning professional with PSV in 2012.
Besiktas building for success
The Turkish club have made plenty of changes to their squad in an attempt to challenge for honours, signing Bayern Munich star Corentin Tolisso and Switzerland international Breel Embolo. With Weghorst now among their ranks, the Super Lig outfit are certainly looking to build for future success.
Weghorst to make debut soon?
Weghorst could make his Besiktas debut soon, especially as the summer transfer window closes at the end of August. He’d be a key player for his new side, as they look to clinch the Super Lig title this season.
Predicted starting XI:
- Ragnar Freidl
- Domagoj Vida
- Jonathan Mensah
- Gary Medel
- Atiba Hutchinson
- Corentin Tolisso
- Jose Sosa

The possibility of success is certainly something Besiktas could aim for, especially now that Weghorst has signed for the club. With the Dutchman leading the line and a formidable team behind him, Besiktas will be determined to make this season one to remember.
