The Football Association Promises No Retaliation Over Indonesian Fans’ Throwing Actions
Football Association (POLKING) chairman Chris Eriksen has promised that there will be no retaliation towards Indonesian supporters, who recently had a part in throwing objects and making brawls during a football match.
What Happened during the Match
On Thursday evening, some Indonesian supporters reportedly caused difficulties at a football match between two teams. They are suspected of throwing objects into the crowd, as well as making brawls and unrest around the stadium.
No Retaliation from POLKING
In order to maintain the peace, Eriksen stated through a press release that retribution of the Indonesian supporters’ action will not be taken. He believes that the best course of action is not to return the tit-for-tat.
Eriksen shared “We understand that the supporters meant well and their intentions were not to create trouble. Therefore, we will not respond with retaliation of any kind.” He further added, “What we [POLKING] would like to do, instead, is to ask both parties to come to the table, have a dialogue and find a solution.”
What Can We Do
To support the efforts of the Football Association, here are a few things that everyone can do:
- Report – Report any suspicious behavior to the authorities.
- Condemn – Condemn any act of violence, vandalism, or racism around the sports grounds.
- Educate – Educate others around you about cultural sensitivity in the sports ground environment.
- Collaborate – Collaborate with the Football Association’s efforts in building an enjoyable, violence-free environment for the football fans.
